Security District Board of Commissioners and Residents Association which work to maintain security and quality of life on the squares bounded by Magazine St., Exposition Blvd., Prytania St. & Nashville Ave. The Security district budget is funded by parcel fees on non exempt parcels, and the Resident's Association is funded by membership dues. Both boards are made up of property owners in the district who volunteer to serve.

Recently, we have all been concerned with numerous issues in our neighborhood, including the proliferation of criminal activity, the deplorable conditions of our streets and routinely missed garbage pickups which are scheduled for Fridays but is regularly not picked up until well into the next week.  I want to assure you that the Board has been proactive about addressing these problems. There will be a residents association meeting on Wednesday, January 18 at 6 pm, at the LaSalle Condos, 6048 Perrier Street.  Residents of both the Upper Hurstville and Audubon Association Security Districts are invited.  Leaders from NOPD Second District will attend along with Captain Wayne Delarge (NOPD/OPSE) and Omar Awad (SEI) representing our neighborhood patrols.  City Councilman Joe Giarrusso will also attend. As announced earlier this month, a new security patrol company for the Upper Hurstville Security District will begin this week. Security Engineers Incorporated (SEI) will begin service to our neighborhood at 7:00 am on Wednesday, June 1.  As before, the patrol will be shared with the Audubon Area Security District (AASD), on the other side of Prytania, and will patrol around the clock each day, 24/7. The City has announced that curbside sanitation pick-up will be temporarily changed to once-a-week while post-storm cleanup is ongoing. Household garbage pickup in Upper Hurstville will be on Fridays, except for Exposition Boulevard and homes upriver from Calhoun Street which appear to have pickup on Wednesdays.
