Security District Board of Commissioners and Residents Association which work to maintain security and quality of life on the squares bounded by Magazine St., Exposition Blvd., Prytania St. & Nashville Ave. The Security district budget is funded by parcel fees on non exempt parcels, and the Resident's Association is funded by membership dues. Both boards are made up of property owners in the district who volunteer to serve.

UH Security District renewal election is Saturday April 28th: Early voting is April 14-21 (except Sunday, April 15) from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. The parcel fee that funds the NOPD / NOPP security patrols is up for renewal by election on April 28th - see tentative ballot language at the bottom of this post. A Crime prevention reminder from NOPD second district below regarding the recent rise in automobile theft and burglary. This statistic stands out:  In October, 22 vehicles were been reported stolen. Fully half of those vehicles had the keys left in the vehicle. Of the 40 reports of vehicle burglary in this period, 39 showed no sign of forced entry -- indicating the vehicles may have been left unsecured.
