Security District Board of Commissioners and Residents Association which work to maintain security and quality of life on the squares bounded by Magazine St., Exposition Blvd., Prytania St. & Nashville Ave. The Security district budget is funded by parcel fees on non exempt parcels, and the Resident's Association is funded by membership dues. Both boards are made up of property owners in the district who volunteer to serve.

A letter (linked HERE) has been distributed by Reginelli's Pizzeria regarding a neighborhood meeting to introduce a proposed expansion of their restaurant at the corner of Magazine and State Streets.  In accordance with the city's Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, businesses located in the Magazine Street Use Restriction Overlay District are required to apply for conditional use approval for any expansion work.  This requirement is in place to protect the interests of neighborhood residents. Recently, we have all been concerned with numerous issues in our neighborhood, including the proliferation of criminal activity, the deplorable conditions of our streets and routinely missed garbage pickups which are scheduled for Fridays but is regularly not picked up until well into the next week.  I want to assure you that the Board has been proactive about addressing these problems. There will be a residents association meeting on Wednesday, January 18 at 6 pm, at the LaSalle Condos, 6048 Perrier Street.  Residents of both the Upper Hurstville and Audubon Association Security Districts are invited.  Leaders from NOPD Second District will attend along with Captain Wayne Delarge (NOPD/OPSE) and Omar Awad (SEI) representing our neighborhood patrols.  City Councilman Joe Giarrusso will also attend.
