Security District Board of Commissioners and Residents Association which work to maintain security and quality of life on the squares bounded by Magazine St., Exposition Blvd., Prytania St. & Nashville Ave. The Security district budget is funded by parcel fees on non exempt parcels, and the Resident's Association is funded by membership dues. Both boards are made up of property owners in the district who volunteer to serve.

UH Security District Renewal Election is 28th April 2018 – please vote!

UH Security District renewal election is Saturday April 28th:

Early voting is April 14-21 (except Sunday, April 15) from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

The parcel fee that funds the NOPD / NOPP security patrols is up for renewal by election on April 28th – see tentative ballot language at the bottom of this post.

The annual fee is paid on your property tax bill to support the security, safety, and general betterment of our neighborhood.

  • The fee is currently $475.00 per parcel annually, those with assessment freezes are exempt from paying this fee.
  • The fee is reviewed annually by the UH board of directors who keep it as low as possible
  • Provides 24 hour private patrol for all residents of the UH district 7 days a week.
  • Provides additional patrols during holidays
  • Performs house checks when requested
  • Out of town / mail newspaper collection
  • Escort to ensure safe departure and return
  • Neighborhood signage and warning about camera surveillance and patrols
  • Promote safety initiatives throughout the neighborhood

Vote Saturday April 28th, 2018 at Benjamin Franklin Elementary, 401 Nashville Avenue.

The tentative Ballot Language (The Secretary of State publishes three weeks prior):

Shall the City of New Orleans renew the levy of the Upper Hurstville Security District’s (“District”) annual Parcel Fee, not to exceed six hundred fifty dollars ($650) per year on each parcel located within the District (except parcels owned by individuals who qualify for the special assessment level provided in Article VII, Section 18(G)(1) of the Constitution of Louisiana), bounded by Exposition Boulevard to Prytania Street to Nashville Avenue to Magazine Street and back to Exposition Boulevard, as specified by the New Orleans City Council, for a period of eight (8) years, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2026, which fee is estimated to generate approximately $213,750 annually, to be used for the primary object and purpose of promoting and encouraging security in the area included within the District and promoting and encouraging the overall betterment of the District?
